As Philly matchmakers, there’s nothing we love more than helping singles find love. But relationships are not as easy as people make them out to be. But when we find someone we connect with and whom we really love, it is so worth it to put the effort. Before everything gets to an ideal place, both partners must go through the awkward stages of the relationship.

During this time, there are some common mistakes that can be seen. Down below, we will be covering them to ensure you don’t make them in your own romantic life.

Today, our Philly matchmakers will reveal the top mistakes women make in relationships.

1. Being Too Open

Many relationships start off with a first date or at least some sort of initial interaction, such as a texting, messaging each other through social media platforms, or being introduced by a mutual friend. And in those first moments together, some people grow comfortable and start to share too much information.

Most embarrassing moments, details of old relationships, thoughts on politics and parenting… Yes, some people share too much. This can be a huge problem for a new relationship and could potentially scare your new partner away. Remember to keep the conversations light at first. Save those hot topics for later on once you have a solid connection.

2. Being Too Closed Off

On the other hand, due to how frightening first dates can be, others are too closed off at these times. A date may be trying to get to know you, asking for your childhood story, job situations, hobbies and interests, and so on. There is definitely a balance between giving too much away so soon and coming across as totally uninterested.

So even if a first date is nerve-wracking, know that this time exists to get to know each other better. Don’t be afraid to open up a little and share some things with him in the beginning stages of dating. Otherwise, you might give him the wrong impression that you’re not interested in him, or that you’re not interesting yourself.

3. Going Overboard with Texts

Since we do live in a digital world, we must talk about another type of communication – text messages. This includes messaging each other through social media platforms, as well! Just as on a first date, they can also be too forward with their text messages. There must be a little mystery, though. And personal space needs to be respected.

You may fall head over heels for someone, but if you’re constantly messaging him all day long, you run the risk of scaring your new love interest away. He will think you don’t have a life of your own and that you’ll suffocate him down the road.

4. Not Showing Enough Interest

Another common mistake many women make in new relationships is not showing enough interest – especially during the first few weeks. This is the time you should be showing a lot of interest and putting your best self out there. You need to make yourself look appealing to him.

Now, this doesn’t mean we should lie and pretend to be someone different. It just means that you should show interest and let him see your true self. You should look good for him when you see him, smell good, and really show your true personality. Let him see that you’re a happy, positive, hardworking, and interesting (or whatever your best qualities are) woman who sees him as the same.

If you’re in the beginning stages of dating, don’t fall into the trap of these all-too-common dating mistakes. Know what to share and when to share it. Know how to be interesting and how to show your interest in him.
